Church Captain
Responsibilities of the Church Captain
- Be in contact with the Prayer Coordinator from each participating church
- Provide a monthly prayer update distributed to prayer and small groups
- Provide monthly updates and request to each church for pulpit
- Announcements
- Organize the set-up of prayer walls at each church
- Organize sign up sheets at churches for prayer opportunities at all events
One of the most important focuses of the Impact World Tour is communication between churches. You have an opportunity as Church Captain to foster not only communication between churches, but prayer within and between churches.
Monthly Prayer & Praise Updates
On a monthly basis hand out or e-mail a prayer update to all the churches involved in the Impact World Tour in your city, as well as those who are considering involvement. Please be wise in how you communicate as you will deal with a number of different denominations. Communications should go to the Prayer Representative from each church. If there is no Prayer Representative, contact the secretary of the church. Communicate with the Prayer Team Leader and Impact World Tour Coordinator for prayer requests.
Prayer Walls
Within every church that is involved with the Tour, there should be a prayer wall. This can look very different, depending on the church. Typically you would use a designated bulletin board in the church. The Prayer Wall should be updated regularly with prayer requests, a calendar of events, sign-up sheets, and IWT news. You will want to work with the Prayer Representative from each church to ensure the wall is up and continually updated.
40 Days of Prayer and Fasting
We suggest this be the final prayer focus before the evangelistic outreach begins. It should start 40 days before the end of the tour – so that people are praying and fasting throughout the preparation as well as the outreaches themselves. People can fast anything – from food to TV etc… IWT may provide a prayer guide to help people focus on different areas of prayer each day. You may want to have a prayer gathering to kick off the 40days and finish with a victory gathering at the end.
